After hosting FA Women’s Premier League (South-East Division) Champions Gillingham Ladies last season, K Sports is delighted to announce their sponsorship of Kent’s best women’s team will continue for the 2017/18 season.
As the squad trains and prepares for life in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division, taking on the likes of Charlton Athletic, West Ham United, Crystal Palace Ladies amongst many others, K Sports has pledged to support the club for another season.
The team will continue to wear the K Sports logo upon their home and away kits, helping showcase their association with Kent’s most exciting new sport facility. K Sports will also host the Gills’ home fixtures on Sunday afternoons, besides offering training facilities during the week with grass, 3G pitches available alongside access to a brand-new state of the art gym opening later this summer.
K Sports Chief Executive Alan Dennington is hoping the partnership will continue to grow from strength to strength and called upon the local community to support the club this season.
“As we’re seeing with the England Lionesses at the moment, women’s football is on the up. It’s attracting higher viewing figures, more media coverage and the standard of the game is improving across the board. Our support for Gillingham Ladies underlines our overall commitment to use the power of sport to create opportunities.”
“We want to provide a first-class facility for the club’s elite players, helping them make the step up they need to compete at a higher level following promotion. Last season was a huge success and the girls did a great job, gaining promotion in such style. I look forward to seeing how this season unfolds and watching some great teams produce entertaining games for fans to enjoy here.”
Gillingham Ladies First Team Manager Jack Wheeler is equally pleased at news of the continued partnership.
“I made no secret of the fact that our move to K Sports helped galvanise our promotion campaign last season. Being able to train and play at the same venue is a huge plus and we’re hoping to attract bigger crowds courtesy of the fact we have a central location in the county and a brilliant clubhouse to make the most of.”
“This season is going to be a huge challenge for us as a club but it’s an exciting challenge and one we’re all determined to meet. Our togetherness has stood up to stern tests in the past and having the unwavering support of sponsors like K Sports really does give us a boost. It’s great to have them on board and I’m hoping we may still attract further support from Kent businesses who want to get involved with women’s football during this time of growth.”
