All instruments will be provided on the Taster Days.
You are welcome to try more than one instrument as it is important that you learn to play the instrument that is right for you.
The MusicStation teachers will play a few songs at 12 noon to get things going, before starting the afternoon’s Taster Sessions. They will available through the afternoon to chat and answer questions about music lessons and the new centre, MusicStation at Cobdown.
This unique opportunity is open to people of all ages and abilities. Please fill out the form below to register and book a slot (spaces are limited).
Information about MusicStation.
MusicStation is the biggest private contemporary music school in the Southeast, currently with 500+ students per week – and has taught over 65,000 lessons since opening the Tonbridge centre in 2013.
MusicStation specialises in rock and pop music. Their friendly and experienced tutors are all successful working musicians, trained to structure the teaching of popular music from beginner to advanced, bringing both valuable industry knowledge and innovative teaching methods into every session. They are some of the best musicians around having played with top artists including Robert Plant, Matt Berry, The Beautiful South and David Arnold (Bond theme composer) at venues across Europe and the USA including The Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena, Ronnies Scott’s and Koko in Camden.
The weekly lessons are 30 minutes and taught in small groups, organised by age and ability level. MusicStation has pioneered new group teaching methods using the latest digital instruments and by utilising their own online syllabus. There’s no waiting in turn to play as each student will be playing out loud with their own instrument.
They also specialise in teaching the Trinity Rock & Pop exam syllabus that is currently taking the musical education world by storm. MusicStation teachers were the lead consultants for this groundbreaking development in graded musical exams.
Benefits of Small Group Tuition
Teamwork – Family/ friends of the same ability can learn together. Students also get to meet new people with shared interests.
Students can work together on the same topic during the lesson, but can still also work individually using headphones when needed.
You can share the common problems in learning an instrument while working together with the tutors. There is also a great sense of achievement in helping and supporting each other in lessons.
Confidence – Many nervous or shy students grow in confidence by learning in a small group.
Fun – Groups create more excitement. Students leave their lessons saying that they learnt a lot and still had fun!
Ensemble Work – You will have opportunities to work on pieces together, such as harmonising vocals, playing bass lines while others play lead, playing percussion parts and building up chord sequences together.
Practice – Group lessons have a sense of momentum that encourages students to practice more.
Experience/ Ability – Everyone will study at their correct level and pace, with a maximum of 6 in a group.
Resources – MusicStation tutors all design high quality handouts for students to take home and to access online.
Results – Excellent track record of grade exam achievement, with many students attaining distinctions.
